In late afternoon on the 15th, we got a taxi to the port where we took a ferry to Portsmouth. The ferry was 5 hours (and the only ferry foot-passengers can bring a dog on to England). We had to keep Beasley in his crate in a special area away from where the passengers could go. We could ask to be escorted to see him as much as we wanted, so we took him some ham from our lunches ;) He was VERY happy to get that prison visit! hah! The ferry was nice and clean, all the staff were very friendly. I took a nap, and before we knew it we were there and had to wait for the customs officer to escort us and Beasley off the boat straight to the customs office. They never even asked for his papers or looked at him. It was surprisingly easy for what everyone says about bringing dogs to England.
